Timothy Mowrey provides wealth management services to his clients residing in six states. Mowrey provides these services on a “fee only” basis (no commissions) to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. His objective is to be the financial “family practitioner” for his clients by developing close relationships, and ensuring their long-term financial health.
Mowrey founded his own Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm in 1992 and merged with ACT Advisors, LLC in 2018. Prior to becoming a financial advisor, Mowrey was a management consultant and an executive in the Information Technology arena.
Mowrey was awarded a NY State Regents Scholarship and received his BPS degree in Management and Data Processing from Empire State College, State University of New York. He is independent Investment Advisor Representative and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Mowrey considers his profession to be a practice, and hence, believes in continuous professional education. In addition to his extensive personal financial library, he has completed the Certified Financial Planner program from the College for Financial Planning, and has participated in advanced training at Duke University and Columbia University. Some of the advanced workshops address specific financial topics, such as tax efficient asset management, asset allocation, estate planning, etc.
Mowrey provides wealth management services to clients with significant incomes and/or net worth. His clients have achieved success as a result of their hard work and personal integrity. Mowrey serves a very diverse set of clients. These clients are generally:
- Business owners or entrepreneurs,
- Information Technology (IT) executives,
- Sales Professionals,
- Medical Professionals.
Mowrey was raised in Niagara Falls, N.Y., (born, bred, fed, and ed) where he was active in a number of sports, student government, school and church activities. He currently resides in Raleigh, N.C., with his wife and the younger members of his family. In addition to his family and friends, Mowrey enjoys reading, hiking, exercise, and religion. He attempts to stave-off tension, age and stiffness with the occasional yoga session, and enjoys an eclectic spectrum of musical styles.
Professionally, Mowrey’s accomplishments have been recognized in Marquis “Who’s Who in America,” “Who’s Who in Finance and Business,” and “Who’s Who in Science and engineering.” Early in his career, he developed a patentable process (for Polyimide resins), and has been published several times (on financial, management, and IT topics). He frequently offers to serve as a coach to entrepreneurs via graduate programs at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
